Working at Height Awareness
Falls from height are a major contributor to workplace injuries and fatalities, to such an extent that working at height commands its own set of regulations under the Health & Safety at Work Act. Someone is deemed to be working at height whenever they are at a level higher than all or part of their surroundings and a fall to a lower level has the potential to cause injury.
Successful candidates will have been taught to recognise when work activities are deemed to be at height and the hierarchy of control measures appropriate for workers at height in various work environments. The training includes the inspection and use of PPE and ladders. Construction courses also include basic scaffold requirements and inspection.
